Beagles do Casal da Vinha

Always a dog lover, i soon began to attend dog shows to exhibit and then to BREED.
What moves me to breed and exhibit is an enormous PASSION.

Our affix was recognized by the Portuguese Kennel Club and the FCI in 1989, therefore 34 years ago.

I am a founding member of the CPC and an international judge of the FCI, for breeds belonging to groups 1, 2 and 6, specializing in the Beagle breed.

Our selection is basically based on 3 points: Health, Temperament and Morphology.

Regarding health, our entire lineage has been screened for the 8 genetic pathologies recommended by the renowned German laboratory Laboklin.

Regarding temperament, we have always performed behavioral tests, both to adults and puppies, having achieved great consistency when it comes to emotional stability, balance, absolute confidence, "tenderness to all proof" with humans and irreproachable social attitude with all living beings.

When it comes to type and morphology, the success of "Casal da Vinha" specimens speak for us, having bred beauty champions in many countries such as
Portugal, Argentina, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Malta, Norway, Iceland, India, Brazil, USA, Peru, Ukraine, Ecuador Mexico and exported to countries where dog shows are not held, such as Qatar and Dubai.

TESTING FOR GENETIC PATHOLOGIES

For us it makes no sense to breed dogs, no matter how beautiful they are, without them being physically and mentally healthy, so we consider it essential, in addition to morphological selection, the screening for genetic diseases, as well as selection at the behavioral level.

The Beagle must be extremely docile, sociable and emotionally stable. We usually say that there are no breeds but lineages, where the genetic heritage defines almost everything.

The genetic variability within each breed is gigantic, as is the disparity both morphologically and behaviorally.
